Microbicidal activities: standard protocols
Functionalized textiles and surfaces

Textiles

Bactericidal, bacteriostatical and fungicidal activities of textiles

he aim of this test was to determine the bactericidal, bacteriostatic of fungicidal activities of textiles. For that, a test suspension of microorganism in a solution of interfering substances is inoculated onto a test textile. The logarithmic reduction is determined under mandatory conditions of the standard.

*ISO 20743 (sep.2013): K.pneumoniae and S.aureus
Obligatory conditions: temperature (37°C) and 1 contact time (18 to 24h)
The results shall be demonstrate at least 3 log reduction

**ISO 13629 (oct.2014): A.brasiliensis
Obligatory conditions: : temperature (30°C) and 1 contact time (48h)
The results shall be demonstrate between 1 to 3 log reduction or a lack of fungi after 48 hours (fungicidy)

Antibacterial activity of tissue

*ISO 20645 (déc.2004): K.pneumoniae, E.coli and S.aureus
Obligatory conditions: temperature (37°C) and 1 contact time (18 to 24h)
The product shall be considered like efficiency if there are a lack of bacteria growth and an inhibition area more than 1 mm.

Functionalized surfaces

The aim of this test is to determine bactericidal activity of non-porous surface (plastic, materials, …).

*ISO 22196 (aou.2011):  E.coli and S.aureus

Obligatory conditions: 1 temperature (35°C) and 1 contact time (24h)

Additional conditions according to standards:

- Modification of the strain*
- Additional contact time
- Additional clean and dirty conditions
